14 years ago in a small German city, Oury Jalloh, an asylum seeker from Sierra Leone was found dead, burned in a police cell. The case was shrouded in mystery from the start, with activists accusing the police, the justice system and the German state of a cover-up and to this day, people are still waiting for answers.

redfish gained access to documents that shine a light on the case and spoke with lawyers, experts, and activists at the heart of what has become one of the most enduring anti-racist movements in Germany.
