redfish is a multi award-winning digital content creator which specializes in producing short and in-depth documentaries in collaboration with people involved in grassroots struggles worldwide to build an alternative to the ruling capitalist system.
Our partners on the ground co-create their stories, in their own words with the support of our core team of professional journalists, producers, camera people, directors, editors and graphic designers.
Every story we tell has a head, a heart and a hand in the grass roots, so that oppressed people drive every part of the process – from choosing the story to how it is told.
Head – What is the problem?
To choose a story, we have to ask the very political question – what is the problem? When we analyse who benefits and who pays the ultimate price in any given story, we identify who is the most oppressed and we start the process of defining the story by listening to them.
Heart – People telling their own stories
Human struggle lies at the heart of every story. We collaborate with people at the grassroots so that they can tell their own stories with their own choice of words.
Hand – What is the solution?
Every problem has a solution, we center the solutions envisaged by oppressed people at the grassroots, not those imposed externally or by the forces which are oppressing them. This is a key part of our vision – all of our stories combined bring together fragmented struggles to show that people are creating their own alternatives to the misery caused by the ruling capitalist system.
We cover the facts as they stand, but we are not neutral, but we don’t sit on the fence in the face of injustice. While the mainstream media gives much of the mic to representatives of the ruling class, like think tanks, the police, politicians ,representatives of big business and the financial world, our stories center the voices of people striving for self-determination, and standing against imperialist wars, ecocide and for equality for all.
