Dimitris Koufontinas, former leader of the dissolved Greek left-wing guerrilla group “17 November”, has been on hunger strike for more than forty days, demanding to be in a prison close to his house. The group was active for over thirty years and is responsible for a range of attacks against imperialist targets. He demands the application of the law that he should be in a prison close to his house. But up to now, the Greek justice system and the government are refusing his demand. We talked with associate professor Alexandros Kioupkiolis from the Aristotelian University of Thessaloniki about this case.
