Viktor Orbán is hailed by right-wing nationalists as a hero for standing up to the “globalists”, but recent protests in Hungary against an overtime law that has been dubbed “Orbán’s Slave Law” question that narrative. Protesters across the country say Orbán’s policies disadvantage ordinary workers and only benefit foreign multinationals, especially German companies like Mercedes and Audi. Meanwhile, Orbán’s government dismisses the discontent on the streets as a Soros conspiracy.
